Strolling down the Wellington st., I came across an interesting sign saying 259 Host, nestled in the Marriott hotel. Quiet intrigued we decided to go inside and found out this is the new venture from the owners of the famous Host Indian restaurant. There were quiet a few people dining considering it was only there second day of opening.

We found this is not your average Indian restaurant. There's no patterned carpet or overdose of Indian display figures instead a very sophisticated and gorgeous setting with a great display of wine cellar. The restaurant is on two floors and you can see the chef’s working through the glass window. We decided to stay for dinner.

The menu have some very interesting dishes, cheese croquettes with mellow brie cheese was excellent as an appetizer. We ordered lamb medallion roganjosh curry and butter chicken. All the dishes came with sides of fresh bread, rice and lentils. The food was artistically presented on expensive china. . We ordered an Australian Shiraz recommended by sommelier an excellent accompaniment to the food.

We loved the food, top quality (especially the Kulfi ice cream dessert!) and top marks for ambience. Staff is cheerful, friendly and quick to serve.

Went to the Hwy7 location a while ago. It is a buffet style. Not impressed with the selection. Taste is just average. Definitely not *fine* - they should drop that word as it is very misleading. Also their credit card system is not working, and it took 20min for the transaction to get through. Will not go back again, just very little value and the service was poor.

Perhaps it was luck of the draw but I didn't experience the great service and food that I heard about from others (which got me curious to go to the restaurant).

I filled out the comment card and gave it to the manager whom did nothing to address the issues. I will never go back again.

Food is really top notch Service was quick and efficient with the servers more than happy to explain exactly what some of the dishes were. There is plenty of choice on the menu and meals are very good value.

I love Indian food and I have sampled at almost every Indian restaurant in and around Toronto. Nothing comes close to the sheer quality and quantity of food on offer at The Host. I have recommended it to many friends, all of whom have been impressed by the place.

I had a wonderful experience dining at the Host on Prince Arthur. Food is delicious especially tandoori chicken. Good selection of wines.

Ordered: semi-dry gin martini, kofta (cheese balls in korma), salmon in onion cashew sauce. I knew before that the word "fine" in the restaurant description didn't mean anything, this further confirmed it. The martini (such a simple drink, right?) was made with very cheap gin, almost bitter and tasted watered down as well. The "balls" described were more like cones, well kind of shapeless... they were not bad overall but nothing impressive. The salmon... disappointing. You'd think if it's simmered in the sauce, it can't be overcooked, right? Wrong. Very dry, not great at all. The sauces themselves were alright although the spiciness was mislabeled. I like medium-hot spiciness, the salmon dish was supposed to be medium but it was more like mild. The mild rating of the Kofta also wasn't right, it was barely spicy at all. Below mild. The service wasn't impressive. I asked for an extra minute to think of my choice and got about 10. The dessert menu consisted of very generic indian desserts like kulfi and milk balls that didn't impress us enough to order. The thing that bothered me the most was that when we sat down (both women), we got 2 pappadums and some relish with it. Next to us, two men sat down and for some reason, got 4 pappadums. I would consider that sexism. Men need more food than women, right? I mean not that I would want more of the oversalted pappadums (although the condiment was good), it just peeved me. That's about all. No intensions of coming back there.

This was the first visit to an Indian Rest. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. I travelled from eastern Ontario to try the rest. and was not disappointed. Will go again.

I booked one of their private dining rooms in Mississauga location, for my business meeting.
They offered a very creative menu with dishes like
stuffed quail, Tandoori portabella mushroom, Shrimps with asparagus. There are many run of the mill Indian restaurants in Mississauga , I think Host is the only choice for quality dining in an upscale setting.
